Enjoy seclusion and wilderness at a historic Maine log cabin on Upper Sabao Lake. Camp is for sale by owner and I can be contacted at 207-412-8401. This clear-water, ~500 acre lake is shared by only 3 cabins and the 1,500 foot sand beach that this property fronts has only one other cabin on it. Miles of foot paths lead from the gated lot to an old growth forest, along the edge of the lake, to the top of Sabao Mountain (with long-range views), and to Pughole Pond, which doesn’t have any camps along its shore. Sabao Lake is one of the headwaters for the Machias River and the lake contains native brook trout and abundant, large white perch. Moose and loons are a common sight along the shorefront. Approximately 19 miles of forest road gets you to this paradise that is near miles of major ATV trails and Maine conservation land. The log cabin is rustic but is clean and pleasant. It has a newer metal roof, a large living area and an attached kitchen with propane stove, refrigerator, and lights. There is also a separate, newer bunkhouse that has nice views of the lake. There is also a privy and a shed on the lot. The lot is 1.34 acres and is owned and is not a lease. It has 208 ft. frontage on the sand beach. It's surrounded by timber company land so you have access to thousands of acres without the taxes. There is nothing else like it in Maine. We were lucky to find it and will be sad to see it go after 10 years of memories. Please feel free to call, text, or e-mail. Texts are easiest for me to get when out at camp, but I will also respond to all e-mails and calls.
