Hi All, While lengthy, please make sure to read the entire post. I am being as detailed and transparent as possible to make sure that this is the right living situation for you. I have been very lucky and have had some amazing roommates the types of roommates that I have been groomsman for, gone on vacations with, and continue to stay in touch with, etc. This is a three level, three bedroom, three bathroom, 1,600 square foot, well maintained, end-unit townhouse located minutes from Tysons Corner, 495, 66, Dulles Toll Road, and two Metro stops (Tysons and Dunn Loring which are both 1.3 miles away). It is ~13-20 minutes to Arlington/Ballston/Clarendon and Reston/Herndon/Fairfax and ~25-35 minutes to Downtown DC. With a 'walk score' of over 50, this home is walking distance to restaurants/bars (Patsy's, Best Buns, Rango's, DCG, BJ's, etc), gyms (Equinox), 24 hour convenience stores (7-11, Sunoco, etc), parks/fields (SAIC Field, WOD Trail, Kilmer), and the Tysons Corner Center mall (which is the largest mall on the East Coast). The home includes stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, washer and dryer, hardwood flooring in the common areas, large finished basement, private office, rear deck, high speed wireless internet (1 GB up/down), and full cable package. In regards to the available package it is a medium sized bedroom (12'x13') with a high vaulted ceiling and a nice view of the surrounding landscape. The closet is small (this has been a dealbreaker for some). The rent will also include a private office (10' x 10') with in-room A/C and heating, hardwood flooring, skylight, and french doors leading out to the deck. New roommate will also have his/her own garage space. Total package is $1,100/month + utilities ($150-$200/month/person). As for me, I am always on the go and am rarely home during the week due to a hectic work schedule I work for a large engineering and construction firm and also work at a large gym (as a personal trainer) in the evenings and on the weekends. I do a lot of business development and networking with my engineering job (Nats/Wizards/Caps/Commanders games, black-tie functions, happy hours, concerts, client dinners, etc). If I do not have some sort of social engagement for work on weeknights, I am at the gym training clients. That being said, I am out of the house by 8am and there is rarely a weeknight where I am home before 8pm. On the weekends I am usually out of the house in the morning/afternoons (training clients at the gym, working out, working on my car, running errands, etc). The other bedroom is being rented out by a professional male working in food & beverage. Due to the nature of his work, he usually works from 3pm-10pm. He is fairly quiet and keeps to himself. We are both respectful and do not have guests over often. Neither of us cook or take over the fridge and kitchen space (most of my meals are at work and most of his are takeout/delivery). We are both in our late 40s (another dealbreaker for some). We are looking for someone similar to us. If you are looking for a 'lively' house or to have your significant other over frequently, this might not be the right place for you. While I won't sit and watch hours of Sunday football with you, I do feel like I am social and can have an intellectual conversation about current events, investing, travel, fitness, the DC restaurant scene, etc. I also know when you need your own space. The ideal roommate would be between 30-50, non-smoker, no pets, no drama, be respectful and very clean. Month-to-month lease option is available for a slightly higher amount.
