Letter To the Future Owner of this Classic Historic Wausau Home.We hope you love our home as much as we have since purchasing in 2017. This home was special to us from day one. We knew the beautiful built-in cabinetry and quality craftsmanship of this solid home built in 1939 was a one of a kind. Our home was built by the Steuber Dairy family, who was well known to all families in the Marathon County area with their home delivery service of milk products. We decided to do major renovations to bring the home back to life and expose the original hardwoods. We began by combining the small kitchen and Mr. Steubers office into one great room for gathering of family, with completion of this in 2018. We exposed all the original maple hardwood floors and incorporated vintage air-dried maple floors from the 1930s to complete the kitchen/breakfast nook renovation. We were also committed to purchase as many American made products as possible and install only quality fixtures. There are handmade tiles from New York that line the large wall of windows, and a large 6 burner gas stove from Kitchen Aid completes the classic look. All the cabinets in the kitchen are painted solid wood and have Matte finished quartz countertops. The main floor bathroom was truly a joy to bring back to life by adding a custom whirlpool tub, wall of handmade tiles, vintage style mirror and light fixtures, and concrete tile floors. We exposed hardwoods in upper bedrooms and opened up walls put in by a previous owner. The original fireplace mantle was exposed to show the quality craftsmanship under many layers of paint. All the windows except one were replaced in 2018 with Pella Architectural Series. They were custom made to fit into the original window frames built in 1939. Only one window in the upstairs on the front gable end is original. We left this window to pay homage to the original heritage of the home. Every time you look through this window it will bring you back in time. All new plumbing to the main was completed to remove old steel pipes, along with a new water heater in 2018. The landscaping was completely redone to allow better viewing of the homes amazing charm. A Simtek no maintenance security fence was placed in the backyard along with a vegetable garden, fruit trees and berry bushes. We also wanted to create an area of relaxation by adding a sitting area with reclaimed stones. The home has been loved much and meticulously maintained. Attached convenient one car garage. We hope whoever is lucky enough to purchase this beautiful Tudor has as many joyful times and memories in the home as we have.
