    Rustic 2BR 2 BA house with modern upgrades and spectacular 'million dollar' view of Alpine creek and surrounding redwood forest, an ideal work from home solution. . Enjoy the beauty and serenity of a home in a redwood forest within minutes of nearly vacant ocean beaches. Many large double pane insulated windows yield a close coupling with the natural setting of the woods and creek that wrap around you. The dining area looks out through a 10 foot wide by 7 foot high window area down onto Alpine creek in the back yard. Two huge bedrooms (each about 200 sq ft) including a jetted spa tub in the master bathroom. Each bedroom is easily big enough to have a couple of office spaces. In addition there is a separate 8 foot by 8 ft 'office nook' that is bordered on three sides by Windows that look out on the forest and the stream. Four large skylights give you a view up into the canopy of redwood trees. The rustic creek-stone fireplace includes gold trimmed mosaic pieces from the 1906 earthquake damaged Stanford University memorial Chapel. ( see photo). Spacious kitchen with gas stove, side by side large refrigerator; built-in dishwasher; and front load washer washer/gas dryer. We replaced the original cabinets and countertops with new maple cabinets and granite countertops. We have also refinished the hardwood floors- they look beautiful. We have a 96% efficient central propane gas heat furnace installed and all windows are insulated/double-paned. Approximately 1440 sq ft house area with covered storage/shop area underneath. Municipal water comes through the public San Mateo County water system. Adjacent to a large forest preserve in La Honda (Sam McDonald Park) and the many miles of hiking and horse trails there. One of the trails is accessible at the edge of the property! Eight minutes from the Pacific Ocean (eg. San Gregorio Beach) and the many other (mostly vacant) beaches there, including some dog beaches. Get fresh and organic produce at the numerous family farms along Highway 1 and Skyline and close-by Farmers Markets. One minute to the quaint downtown of La Honda and all of the history and charm it has. Six hundred yards down the creek is Ken Keasy's previous house of Merry Prankster fame. While our rental house is located in a private setting, there is the wonderful mountain community of La Honda that spreads over the adjacent hills. The community spirit is unlike anything you will see in the Bay Area. The home is located on approximately a quarter acre lot with 20+ redwoods and Alpine Creek bordering the property. The house is safely above the small creek and has a gently sloping path to walk down to the crystal clear, year-round shallow waters. Kids, adults, and dogs will love the creek with its smooth river rock and sandy beaches on the property - Trout and Steelhead will surprise you in the pools, crayfish abound, and kingfishers and herons rule. Many other public hiking trails are available in the immediate area. Kayaking is available in the ocean and San Gregorio estuary. With spectacular night skies fuel from many hilltops,. La Honda is ideally situated and is warmer than the coast in winter and cooler in the summer than the bayside of the peninsula. There is locked gate access on a flat short driveway/road for privacy; maintained by San Mateo county. Hi Speed DSL is available from ATT , also Comcast Cable TV and Cable Internet can be ordered. Cell phone coverage works, at least Verizon, as well as some others. Utilities are not included in the rent; you will need water, electricity, garbage , and propane (resident discount possibly available). So, whether you are an astrophysicist wanting to immerse yourself in the wonder of the only human habitable planet found (so far ) or someone wanting a daily break from the beehive of activity that is Silicon Valley (or the fog that is Half Moon Bay), this could be for you. It will have, probably, the most beautiful views you will ever see , except possibly for an astrophysicist. Working remotely was never better than this. So, instead of just answering the question of where you live with... 'the peninsula' ,... make a personal statement with 'La Honda'... it will probably make you smile every time you say that... I think that was true for Ken Keasey. Pets probably Ok...please ask- sorry, no aggressive dog breeds. Fenced dog run area available. Rental availability - June 15, possibly earlier. Please provide a contact number and include a narrative of your situation. Standard deposit terms apply . No Smoking or drugs. To respect the privacy of the current tenants, do not go on the property except with an agreed on showing with the landlord. Please stay on the driveway or continue on the park trail that branches off near the house. Important note: Three of the popular mobile mapping applications may give different driving instructions to the house at 8080 la honda road. The driveway for the house starts at a locked gate at La Honda road, right across from the 8.12 mile marker. The post for the heavy duty pipe gate has the 8080 address, along with some others on it. Note: You do not go on nearby Pescadero road, and you do not go on Pope road... those will end up on the wrong side of the stream. Sometimes giving the GPS the close by address of 8120 La Honda Road will yield the correct directions. if the gate is not unlocked you will need the lock box combination to open the gate and then relock it once you have driven through it As you drive down the driveway, our house is the second one on the left , is just a few hundred yards from the gate; Make sure your passenger has their video camera turned on as you may never see another driveway as spectacular as this one. Tennants responsible for all utilities. No smoking of any type allowed.
