Dunleith, a National Historic Landmark, was constructed after an 1855 fire destroyed an earlier house on the site. The imposing Greek Revival structure is the only surviving Mississippi example of an antebellum mansion completely encircled by 26 stucco-covered brick Doric columns and double-tiered galleries, a form most frequently associated with Louisiana plantation house along the Mississippi River. Surrounded by forty acres of green pastures and wooded bayous, the sale of Dunleith Historic Inn includes six buildings on the property dating back to the 1790s, the gourmet restaurant, contents of all buildings and garden elements, fine art and antiques, eight historic Dunleith carriages, historic Dunleith 19th-century bathroom fixtures and non-antique furnishings and equipment, including full restaurant interior.
