As my current roommate is moving on to buy a house (sad face), my kitties and I are searching for a new housemate to share our 2 bedroom apartment, with a move in date of April 30th or May 1st. The building staff is friendly and attentive; and the area in and around the complex itself is very safe. We have an onsite laundry facility on the bottom floor, a small gym, a nice pool, and the building has a both a summer pool and winter holiday party that always turn out fun. It's a good spot for public transit (both the K6 and 16 Ride-On bus pick up right out front, and a brief walk away are the C2, C4, F8, J4, R2, 15, 17, 18, 21, and UMD busses) and a simple commute to Downtown Silver Spring, Takoma Park, Wheaton, Hyattsville, College Park, or to several metro stations. There are plenty of nearly options for supplies and grocery shopping, and it's a great place to go for a walk or grab a bite to eat. As our lease will indicate, our rent is going up a few dollars as of June 1st, meaning that the first month's rent will actually be $645, and from then on, the rent will be $654. Your rent includes half of FIOS Internet ($65, which I take care of separately), and expenses work out to exclude you from pet rent. The initial security deposit is $250, and split between us comes to $125 each. You get it back with interest after you move out. Utilities (water, gas, electricity) are separate and are billed by a meter in each apartment--meaning we pay for what we use. Depending on the season, that cost can be anywhere from $20 each, but rarely has exceeded $100. Summer-time is when it can be the worst, but otherwise if we watch our usage, expenses stay down. Our policy has always been that I take care of paying the bill, but leave the statement on the table with the split amount owed for whenever you have it. Unfortunately we're at our kitty limit so no more kitties are allowed (unless we can work something out), and dogs aren't allowed on the premises, Other small critters/reptiles are welcome. No smoking please and be respectful of eachothers space and property. Guests are welcome anytime with adherence to the same rules. A little about your prospective roomie: I'm a 21 year old female who's between school and work most days, but might be around a bit more during the summer. I'm very laid back and keep to myself most of the time, but am willing to socialize when the opportunity calls for it. I love cooking, and partake in the hobby quite often, so I'll frequently have samples of whatever goodie I've concocted up for grabs. I keep plenty of drinks around to share as well.I'm not hard to get along with, and as I've been here for a while, can answer any questions about the area.
