There is a wonderful bike trail you can ride to and go all the way to the Wisconsin border or South for dozens of miles, plus other trails link up. We often ride to East Dundee and stop at Dairy queen. The neighbors next door are freindly, I mentioned the annual block party. The fox river is about 10 or so blocks away to the west as well and you can fish or launch a boat from there. There is also the Elgin boat club down there. There is also a large park to the North you can walk down into, it is very hilly and like a small forest, very secluded. My wife and children and I have gone for many walks over the years and the neighborhood is very nice and quiet. We are not on the "Gold Coast" but we are close to it and we walk through it. You can see Judson College from the bike trail as well and it is one of the most beautiful campuses around. You can also see a large park across the river as well. There is a bike bridge which goes from our side of the river to Voyage landing which is that park. It is built under I 90 so you can ride your bike across the river that way. You are also close enough to downtown Elgin to be able to easily ride your bike there. The Centre of Elgin is a very nice work out facility with pools, hand ball courts, weight rooms, basketball courts and an indoor walk/run track.
