When the babies lose their fluffy feathers and grow their flight feathers, the parents start running the babies up and down the field and flapping their wings. This is necessary for the wings to be strong enough to lift their chubby little bodies into the air. It takes a few weeks, but as soon as all the babies can fly, they all leave; probably going back to Canada! We have loved every minute here, and I know that you will, too!
