By Brad ColePosted Jul. 31, 2014 @ 11:05 am NORWOODDespite an appeal of the Conservation Commissions approval of the Upland Woods 40B project, work on the site is expected to begin in September.Lloyd Geisinger of Thorndike Development said they would apply for building permits from the town "almost immediately" at a July 29 meeting with various Norwood town officials."Wed like to try to get that process going," he said. "We understand this appeal has to be resolved, but we want to move forward aggressively so that were in a position to work when the law permits."Building Inspector Mark Chubet said he would issue the permits based on the input received from town counsel.If permits are issued, development will begin in mid-September, Russell Dion of Campanelli said."We anticipate about 10 to 11 months to frame, construct, enclose and occupy that first building," Dion said, expecting the first building to be finished by Aug. 2015. Every 30 days, Dion said the developers plan to start work on another building, taking 18 months to complete.These seven buildings are each 4 1/2 stories tall. They will house 262 rental units, 25 percent of which are affordable, meaning all will count towards Norwoods subsidized housing inventory.
