The intent of the design was to create a cottage that had the look and feel of a 19th century Italianate or vernacular farmhouse. We sought to create a house of modest simplicity with a focus on detail and proportion. The cottage sits atop a hill that overlooks the surrounding countryside with rolling hills and pastures. It is proper without pretense, graceful but not grandiose, and sophisticated yet subtle.
