The land has been owned by Arnold and Connie Van Hees since the 1970's. Arnold made many improvements such as a well, septic system, electricity, running water, a home and many outbuildings. However, in 2014 the fire took out the buildings. Arnold was proactive in tree management and clearing, which helped most of the trees survive the fire. It has since recovered and because of the initial tree management along with the fire cleansing, the land is beautiful with new growth and lush meadows.
