Original built in 1918, the Blackstone was the tallest building in Downtown Los Angeles. The Blackstone Department Store Building is an early example of the work of John Parkinson , he was tasked to design a modern department store for his new commercial tenant, Nathaniel Blackstone, a successful dry goods retailer. This Beaux Arts building is clad in grey terracotta and features a detailed cornice with elaborate brackets. In 1939, Blackstone was sold to the Famous Department Store Company and became well known as high-end retailer on Broadway and now has returned with a new luxury Australian retailer BNKR located on our ground level. 1 Year
