In the 1960's, after the construction of the Dorado Beach Hotel, Laurance Rockefeller developed a new project: Dorado Beach Estates. A resort type comunity that consists of a series of lots for residential use, located at the entrance of the hotel's estate. Only vacation homes or permanent residence could be built on the property. The lots were almost all one acre or one & a half acres. The first house was constructed for MR. James T. Barnes, on lot number one. The second on lot 14, belonged to Mr. Royal Little, one of the world's wealthiest men. The third was the Pomeroy residence on lot number 12. Laurance Rockefeller also built here, on lot 29. Rockefeller used this residence until the 1980's. The best local architects, as well as renowned architects from other countries, have worked on the design of the homes in the Dorado Beach Estates, creating quite a variety of exquisite domiciles.
