Originally built as a 4-plex in 1909, the building sustained fire damage and was given a major remodel around 1991. At that time the interior walls were striped of lath and plaster as well as any lead paint they may have had. The building was rewired with circuit breakers, the walls, ceiling and floors were insulated, the windows were replaced with double paned aluminum ones and the building was re-plumbed as necessary. In spite of all that, the remodelers managed to retain some of the old world charm of the interiors.
