In the early `70s, many of New York`s master chefs and restaurateurs escaped on days off to Hunter Mountain. Jacques Pepin was one. An accomplished skier too, he became owner of this delightful and unique French farmhouse up a long driveway perched high above the road, and turned it into a skiing/cooking/gardening retreat. His presence remains, including his vintage Wolf commercial stove in the chef's kitchen, still working wonderfully, and remnants of his fine art talents abound, including the little umbrellas painted on the stairs and some painted window shades.
