    This lovely center hall colonial built in 1887 was originally designed as a single family home, but was converted to a two family home during World War I. Since 1989, the current owners restored the house back to its original single family design, much to the delight of the former owners of the home. This was one of the original farmhouses on the west side of town and S Lanning Avenue was its original driveway. By 2001, the kitchen and baths were completely renovated including the addition of the breakfast nook with its three sides of windows and views of the backyard and the farm land beyond. Even the commissioned dining room mural is inspired by the rolling hills and farmhouses surrounding the property. And in 2017 overtop of the new roof, the owners installed the 7kw solar panel system which is fully paid for and produces a very low electric bill per month, a green investment which is the envy of other environmentally conscious homeowners. The annual street block party is a special gathering of neighbors and friends and with the preserved open park of 50 acres at the end of the street, many fellow townspeople can be waved at as they meander by, many with their dogs in tow. And easy access to downtown with its many restaurants, the public library and elementary school plus locally owned shops, post office, drug store and theater, is either through the park or by the streets, which makes this the tree village you'll want to call your own!
