This perc-tested corner building lot is easily identified by the intersection of Alpenwald Lane and the aptly named Valley View Drive. From the road you will look out onto the southern reaches of the Green Mountain National Forest. Just a few hundred feet separate this location from untouched wilderness. The topography is rolling with some boulders, but not sloped. The most favorable area for a septic system appears to be the northeast corner, and that was the area tested. It's located in Alpenwald Village, with community-maintained roads rolling up and down the area's hills. Today the village is home to friendly full-time Vermonters, though tourists are always passing through nearby Route 100, one of the most scenic drives in the country. Dutch Hill Recreation Area—today known for backcountry glade skiing—is across from the Alpenwald main entrance, and it's fifteen minutes to North Adams and the Massachusetts Berkshire Mountains. Thirty minutes to Mt. Snow, less than an hour to Brattleboro.
