Turn the key and you are home and home is a $1.2 million castle overlooking Rockland Lake and Hook Mountain.
This fully furnished rental includes utilities and 2,690 square feet of living space spanning the entire first and second floors of a custom owner-built solar center hall colonial overlooking Rockland Lake and Hook Mountain. The Secretary of the Interior awarded our view the title of Natural National Landmark significant for its outstanding beauty and abundant wildlife.
It's a four over four. Four rooms upstairs and four down. The rental includes the entire first and second floors, with four furnished bedrooms, spacious living and family rooms, a formal dining room, a large custom kitchen, a 40-foot lake-view deck and a full-width front porch.
You don't simply walk into this home you make an ENTRANCE. Flinging open both of the $10,000 custom castle doors, you are immediately greeted by your very own doorman "The Doorman", an exceptional oil painting by artist Hasani Claxton a museum quality first impression, confirming without question that you are someplace special. A place that is home to approximately $18,000 worth of fine art.
From moment you walk in, the little things begin to win you over like the grand foyer the builder did not leave out, a bench to sit on and a front hall closet for your coats and boots.
Turning, you will be drawn in by the view that pulls you through the four-room open floor plan to the deck with an unforgettable 180 view of mountain, lake and sky that you can see from any room downstairs: Foyer, living room, family room, dinette, dining room and kitchen.
And oh that kitchen.
I built this home myself, for myself, without a budget, under the philosophy that nothing was too good and it shows. Guests have swooned over my kitchen, saying, "I want everything in here" all white, glass and sunshine, a massive, sun-drenched masterpiece. Cozy radiant heated floors warm your feet as you move toward a sweeping center island wrapped in pristine, brilliant white Glassos crystallized stone, with countertops that feel like they are measured in miles, not feet.
This is a true culinary command center packed with elite tech and premium finishes. The refrigeration setup alone is an absolute flex, featuring three distinct units: a state-of-the-art Samsung Family Hub with a flat-screen smart display, a hidden counter-depth Sub-Zero, and a dedicated wine fridge and its own built-in pet feeding station.
Every single appliance has been chosen with zero compromise, from the seamless Thermador Freedom induction cooktop and oven to the Miele vent hood, under-counter Panasonic microwave, and Kitchen-Aid dishwasher. Even the countertop luxuries like the touch faucet, Breville smart oven, and Keurig setup stay true to the standard of absolute premium quality.
All of this is framed by stunning floor-to-ceiling white cabinetry and illuminated glass-front displays. True to the home's spectacular design, a wide wall of sliding glass doors floods the space with natural light, offering stunning outdoor views and opening directly onto the massive 40-foot lake-view deck. It is a space built to be lived in, loved, and celebrated.
Now that I have shown you around the main floor, let's go up the stairs and see the four bedrooms and two baths on the second.
I named the primary suite is called "The Morning Glory," though past guests have called it the "Garden of Eden" and it is easy to see why. This expansive, sun-filled sanctuary with it's own lamp-lit Juliette Balcony, opens up to panoramic mountain and water views. It flows effortlessly into what has been crowned "the best bathroom on Airbnb."
The crown jewel of this spa bath is a massive, 93-gallon freestanding whirlpool tub equipped with Chromatherapy and champagne bubbles. Soaking in this tub while watching the sun drop below the mountain line is nothing short of transcendental. The luxury extends to every corner with a custom smart toilet, a full-length body dryer, a huge frameless glass shower clad in Ming Serpentine stone, and radiant heated floors to warm your toes on crisp mornings. The space is beautifully finished with textured wave-wall accents, custom floating glass shelving, A custom-made $6,000 wall mosaic, a $500 oil painting, a vessel sink that matches the tub and a 270 lake and mountain view!
Features across the second floor include 9-foot ceilings, a dramatic 12-foot cathedral ceiling in one of the secondary bedrooms, rich hardwood floors, central air, and smart TVs in nearly every room. The entire home is intelligently powered by the sun. One bay of the attached two-car garage and two designated off-street parking spaces are included.
This amply furnished home is truly a turnkey rental that you can walk into with a suitcase and not need to buy another household item. It comes fully equipped with flatware, dishware, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, a coffee maker, SodaStream, waffle iron, toaster, toaster oven, towels and bedding, toothbrushes and toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, cleaning supplies, dog beds, hair dryers, and much more.
As the owner, I live in a completely separate, lower-level living area with its own entrance. My space is so incredibly discreet that you are likely not to see me for weeks at a time. To ensure your absolute privacy, please note that the backyard and both side yards are reserved as part of my living area and are excluded from the rental your private outdoor oasis is the massive 40-foot lake-view deck and the expansive front porch.
The house is a 37-mile drive from New York City about one hour by car, depending on traffic. Palisades Center, just eight minutes away, offers shopping, restaurants, movies, and entertainment, and also serves as a commuter transit hub. Hudson Link buses connect Palisades Center directly with the Tarrytown Metro-North station, putting Tarrytown's vibrant entertainment and dining scene just twenty minutes away. Best of all, Rockland Lake State Park is located directly behind the property, with Hook Mountain and Nyack Beach State Parks nearby.
Here you can nest, enjoying the view by day and curling up by the fireplace at night. Others make it a home base for adventure: walks, biking, hiking, swimming, wildlife viewing, exploring our five state parks, visiting fall farm stands, pumpkin patches, apple-picking, and enjoying dinner and jazz dates in charming nearby river towns.
But what lingers in memory is the downshift from one's busy life: the feeling of being high above Rockland Lake, feeding the deer, watching clouds form at eye level, and seeing simple weather and changing light turn the mountain-and-lake view into living theater.
Simply put, it's a comfy marvel of technology with a stellar view.
*About the Builder*
This home is the absolute antithesis of a standard, mass-produced rental. I designed and custom-built this sanctuary for myself in 2013, overseeing the entire process. Before it was even an architect's plan on paper, I was there.
I hand-selected every material that went into this structure. From roof tiles to crown moulding... every corner was shaped by a decision. I literally picked out everything except the nails, intentionally avoiding the "builder-grade" shortcuts and materials with the 'planned obsolescence' associated with so much modern construction.
From the masterfully engineered solar integration to the radiant heated stone floors, every element was chosen under a simple philosophy: you never have to tear down what was built right the first time. Because I maintain a completely separate, highly discreet residence on the lower level, I promise that you will receive a level of property care, structural integrity, and attentiveness that standard rentals simply cannot replicate... because you are stepping into a true, uncompromising labor of love.
Six-month fixed-term lease. Fully furnished. Electricity, heat, gas, central air conditioning, water and internet are included in the $6,250 monthly rent. One bay of the attached two-car garage and two additional off-street parking spaces are included; the owner retains the second garage bay. The owner occupies a discreet and separate lower-level living area. Approved pets only; $50 monthly pet rent per approved pet. LG dryer included; washer hookup available.
The backyard and both side yards are part of the owner's living area, are excluded from the rental and are not available for tenant use.
