You can drive directly onto much of the beach with a permit, which makes hauling chairs, coolers, and kids easy. Ferry access If you're coming from Galveston, the ferry to Port Bolivar is free and runs daily. It's a scenic, easy way in. There's no Uber scene to rely on. Bring wheels, and you'll be just fine. The elevator runs from the ground to the deck and back again. It is built to carry people, steady and sure. It will take no more than five hundred pounds at a time, so do not crowd it.
