Small apartment rental (not a condo) near Duke west campus beginning December 1st for one quiet person. $970 rent includes all utilities and wifi. One month security deposit required. The rent amount includes a $100 reduction for some minor house management activities (see below) and another $200 discount since this is a hard time of year to rent. Please take advantage of this huge discount! The apartment is in the downstairs area of my house with a separate entrance facing the backyard and lots of trees. It's very private. There are windows on two sides, 3 windows total in the apartment, a full bath, in-unit washer dryer, mini-split separate heating and cooling that you operate, and the rent covers all utilities including wifi. Rent is $970 and this includes the approximate 1-2 hours/month (but usually closer to just one hour or less) house management tasks needed while I'm away, which will be most of the time for the next 6 months, at least, but may be longer and may be fairly permanent. Tasks will include: taking in my mail (there won't be much because I am having mail forwarded), bringing the garbage recycling bins to the street on Wednesday nights, scheduling and letting in contractors when there are any house repair issues (hopefully this will be quite minimal), once in a while sweeping the deck, and providing communication with me and the upstairs tenant. Note: If I do return and the tasks are not always needed, I will not raise the rent since I travel sometimes anyway and would need the assistance then. Some additional responsibilities for more rent reduction could also become needed if you were interested. I can explain more about this if you are interested. We would calculate the reduction on an hourly paid basis that we agree on. I am hoping to find a very responsible and highly communicative person with good references (required). The house is located one mile from Duke west campus, just off Morreene Rd. in Durham, near the Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital of Durham and two blocks from the bus stop. It's a 7 minute drive to downtown Durham. One year lease. No smoking. One cat is possibly acceptable. No other pets allowed. Parking is on the stress but it's easy.
