    Your chance to rent the most unique and fun, midcentury modern house in town! This is a 1950s mid-mod single-story house made entirely of concrete, top to bottom. It has a huge open floor plan with a kitchen bar that opens out to a vast dining room which then flows to the large living room with 11 foot ceilings. Both of these rooms open out of glass doors onto a big covered patio! Don't miss the large copper fire place hanging from the ceiling in the middle of it all which you can ! The house has 3 large bedrooms off a shared hall, with a shower and bath in the hall, a laundry room and ample pantry and storage is off the hall as well. The master bedroom has two closets and an additional toilet and vanity (master bedroom shower is under construction and we hope to have it completed before a move-in). We're listing it as a 4 bedroom because there is a very large room on the back of the house which could be used as an additional large bedroom (we've done this before), a large office, or even a second living room / play room. It has a brick fireplace in it (non-functional, for now), and a brand new wet/bar and cabinets with black granite countertops. This room also has a separate entrance from the exterior. The house has new carpet, paint, and lighting throughout as well as new shower/bath fixtures. Smart locks. Smart thermostats. Smart video doorbells. The yard is large and private. You cannot even see the house from the road as it is tucked in behind a couple other beautiful homes off of 21st street. Location is wonderful, right in the middle of Lawrence with high school sports complex and track sharing a backyard border. You are a super short distance to the KU campus. This house was intended to be our personal home, but we also purchased a farm a few hours away which needed a lot more work than we thought and thus we find ourselves splitting a lot of time between the two places. This house has a small ADU (additional dwelling unit) apartment on the back, which we will come and go from periodically as we continue to fix the place up (likely wouldn't be more than once a month for just a couple days each time if this does get rented full-time). So any renter(s) must be okay with that. FYI: We're a young family, husband and wife, with 4 very obedient, well behaved young children. Not loud. Not messy. No pets or smoking or anything unusual to note. Husband does construction besides running the farm. When we show up, the house and grounds improve. Other important things to note: No smoking will be allowed in the house. No pets is strongly preferred, but if you're a fit financially and a great renter in every other way, this could be negotiable. Mowing will be expected to be handled by the tenants (we'd be okay with gardening in a portion of the yard that we've planned to create a garden in). Also, all utilities will be placed into the tenants' name and up to you to pay, and this is quite a large house, so the height of winter and summer can see larger bills for heating and cooling (even into the 400s/mo, depending on where you run the thermostat). We have some plans to do more to continue to increase the efficiency of the home, but cannot guarantee it will be completed while you're there. Hopefully, but no guarantees. Ask any other questions! P.S. If you wanna foot the bill for it, we'll even get the filled-in backyard pool dug out and working again while you live here. ;) Tenant pays all bills and utilities such as water and trash, electricity, gas, and internet. Tenant is responsible for mowing the yard as required. Smoking is not allowed. Pets may be allowed with additional deposits or possible increased rent, depending on type and size of pet. Tenants without pets will be preferred. Term length is negotiable though 1 year is preferred.
