This property has traditionally been used as a setnet fishing operation. When the operation was established, it was given the name Greenbanks. The main cabin is 24’ by 36’ and features two bedrooms, one bathroom, a cozy living area with a wood stove, a dining area, kitchen, mud room, and a south facing deck. There is an on-demand water heater that supports the kitchen sink and shower. The lights, water pump, charging station, Starlink satellite dish, VHF radio, AC electricity are all powered by a 300 watt solar panel and battery bank. The cabin is well insulated. The kitchen includes a propane stove and refrigerator, generous cabinet space and an island for additional counter space. The cabin is supported by 10’ x 10' treated pilings with excellent bracing. It underwent a significant upgrade in 2011 when the original pilings (previously cottonwood) were replaced. Situated on 1.25 acres, attributes of Greenbanks include: very few bugs, access to a good drinking water source, and a south/southwest-facing cabin orientation. The guest cabin is 20’ by 20’ and is also well insulated. It has one main living area/bedroom 20’ by 10’ and two smaller rooms at 10’ by 10’ that serve as a bathroom and storage area. There is also a tractor barn (built in 2009, added on in 2023) at 16’ by 18’ and serves as storage for a Kubota tractor (included with package) and a 2500 gallon storage tank and room for additional storage. The gear shed is a 16’ by 24’ building with a loft for ample storage. Other buildings: sauna with wood stove, outhouse. There is early season king salmon and late season silver salmon trolling right in front of Greenbanks. Additionally, there is excellent halibut fishing. The Zachar River, offers good silver fishing in late summers, while the Karluk River, presents opportunities for steelhead fishing in the fall. There is also blacktail deer hunting in the area. Greenbanks has been a working setnet camp since the 1960s. With the upgrades made in the past 18 years, the cabin has been transformed into a destination that could be a comfortable remote cabin with possibilities such as eco-tourism, remote lodge experiences, or to continue as a setnet operation. Greenbanks is frequently visited by blacktail deer families, land otters, fox and numerous birds. From the front deck, you can view the ocean life including sea otters, minke whales, fin whales, orcas, harbor seals and Steller sea lions. Getting to Greenbanks from Kodiak: 30 minute trip by air to Larsen Bay either by charter flights or daily scheduled wheel flights, or directly to the Greenbanks beach by float plane. The 24-foot skiff included in the package is also a capable craft to travel back and forth between Kodiak and Greenbanks.
