Ranch, brand and cattle from Taylor & Clemens with the profits from driving 300,000 longhorns from Texas to Dodge City. Throughout six generations, the ranch is notable for many historical firsts, including leasing land for hunting to diversify ranching income, founding the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association and establishing a registry for Texas Longhorns that brought the legendary breed back from the brink of extinction, and introducing exotic hoof stock that earned the ranch a reputation world-wide as Americas Original Game Ranch. THE COMMUNITY - HEADQUARTERS: The Lodge is a true showplace with a 40-foot ceiling and thick walls of native cut stone with faded red planking from a Hill Country barn. There is a massive stone fireplace, turn-of-the- century wood bar and chandeliers fabricated from wagon wheels. A spiral staircase leads to a loft.
