    What's special

The Thompson-Henry Mansion is located within the Humboldt Street Historic District (often referred to as "Humboldt Island"), overlooking beautiful Cheesman Park. Built in 1905, and designed by the Baerresen Brothers, the 11,000+ SF Georgian-Revival Style home features an impressive classical façade, semicircular portico, and Palladian windows, making it a fine example of the Turn-of-the Century Neoclassical architectural style. The mansion features formal living spaces that are simply not found in homes today: parlor, grand ballroom, magnificent dining room, conservatory, billiards room, and generous spaces perfect for entertaining or family activities. The original architectural details include significant and intricate staircases, never-painted hardwood casework/paneling/cabinetry, quarter-sawn oak pocket doors, historically themed fireplace-surround tiles, hand-painted art ceilings including the astonishing classically inspired piece in the main stairwell, and decorative stencil ceiling on canvas in the living room, several unique chandeliers (one with mother of pearl shades), two-dozen stained glass windows including a 5x6 foot hand-painted portrait of Romeo and Juliet, seven fireplaces, gold-leafed ceiling ornamentation, hand-laid parquet floors, and a plethora of historically curated details that truly must be seen to be believed. Movies and TV shows have been shot on the property, and significant dignitaries and politicians have hosted meetings there. The 16,500 SF corner lot allows for a three-car attached garage, nicely landscaped backyard, fire pit, and spacious deck all of which backs to Cheesman Park. It was one of the first residences in Denver built with steel-beam construction, which may have contributed to its extraordinary level of preservation. This is one of the most architecturally and historically significant homes in Denver ever to be offered for sale!
