I'M ONLY RENTING FOR 1-2+ MONTHS THIS SUMMER, JUNE-AUGUST. 2BR, 1 BA, 900 square feet, top-floor in a 14-unit brick building built in the 1920s but entirely rehabilitated in 2007, $1,200 a month including utilities. Edgewater (edgewater.org) is a GREAT, safe neighborhood (Magnolia Glen in Edgewater) steps to the lake, and Andersonville shopping; one block to Thorndale El stop (Red line); every convenience around the corner! Gorgeous hardwood floors throughout, updated kitchen with travertine floors, stainless steel appliances, and granite. Updated bath, classic vintage touches, high ceilings and charming vintage features through out including built-in hall mirror. overlooking landscaped common patio. Laundry in building. Radiator heating that can be turned on/off in specific rooms. A great many students and faculty from both Loyola and Northwestern live in the area. You can walk to the main campus of Loyola and take CTA or Northwestern shuttle bus to Evanston (or River North). It also is an easy red line journey to River North where the professional schools of Northwestern, Loyola, DePaul, and University of Chicago are located. Similarly easy to take Red line to schools in the Loop (SAIC, Roosevelt, Columbia, Kent, etc.). Edgewater is an amazing neighborhood. It is totally quiet on its tree-lined, narrow residential streets but also has all of the amenities that a quality urban neighborhood provides. Edgewater is incredibly diverse with Africans and African Americans, Asians, Latinos, Whites (including many Russian immigrants), and others. Very gay-friendly. There are excellent options for Food very close by the condo. A new Whole Foods market opened just 3 blocks away and there is the excellent, cheap Edgewater Produce Market 10 minutes away. There is an Ethiopian market 5 blocks away. Restaurants are tasty and plentiful: a Zagats-rated Thai restaurant is 2 blocks away, Chicago Reader's best liquor store in most recent annual poll is next door to that. Three Ethiopian restaurants are within 4 blocks. A local Mexican restaurant is 4 blocks away as are vegan, a neighborhood diner, and others within blocks. Under 10 minutes to perhaps the best coffeeshop and roaster in a great coffee city, Metropolis Coffee. 10 minute walk to one of the most beloved yet still totally local commercial districts in the city, Clark St. in Andersonville with incredible restaurants, cafes, bars, bookstores, and other shopping though I would be remiss if I did not mention one of Chicago's best bars and gastropubs, the legendary Hopleaf. 2 blocks to a nearly brand-new public library that also has wifi. Close to drug stores, the best vintage furniture store in city, and one of the best neighborhood bars, Moody's. A 5-minute walk gets you to Lake Michigan and a wonderful, mellow beach. In under 10 minutes, you can be walking or biking on the legendary Lakeshore Trail which runs more than 20 miles along the majestic lake to the Loop and South Shore. If you have a car, easy parking in neighborhood without any permit needed and half mile to to Lakeshore Drive. Also easily accessible to the Little Saigon on Argyle Street, the largest South Asian enclave in the Midwest on Devon in West Rogers Park. Truly, the far northeast side is the most diverse part of the North side. In short, it's a recently decorated 2BR condo in an awesome neighborhood in one of the best large cities in the USA.
