THE SPACE This lovely, private, furnished space has a private entrance and is located in the residential Brookland (N.E.) section of Washington, D.C. The space is on the lowest level of an owner-occupied Victorian house with full height ceilings and full-sized windows allowing full light into the space which includes a walkout private entrance, furnished room, kitchenette and bathroom. The room features a new queen-sized bed, blackout window treatments, nightstand, table and chairs, reclining easy chair, two clothes bureaus, cedar storage trunk, two closets and several lamps. There is a flat screen TV with connected Fios service including their Sports Package, high speed Wi-Fi, a ceiling fan and a private heating /air conditioning split unit so the resident can control temperature. All linens and bedding are provided. The kitchenette area includes a small refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, Brita filtered water pitcher and Keurig coffee machine. Disposable plates, bowls, cups and utensils are provided. NOTE: This is not a full kitchen. The updated bathroom includes a refurbished claw foot tub/shower combination, a brand-new vanity with matching mirror, heat fan, exhaust fan, recessed lighting and a new toilet. Towels are provided. Tenant has private use of table and chairs outside private entrance. Owner is happy to share use of the lovely, private and large backyard. TRANSPORTATION There is ample, free, unrestricted street parking. There is a possibility of the use of the driveway. The apartment is located directly on the Metrobus line, H6, which runs on 14th St. NE. The bus goes to the Brookland/Catholic U Metro Station on the Red Line. Both the Brookland/Catholic U Metro Station and the Rhode Island Avenue Metro Station (Red Line) are seven-tenths of a mile away or about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the apartment. An entrance to the Metropolitan Branch Trail is close by. There are also Capital Bikeshare stations and Enterprise car-share spaces in the neighborhood. BEAUTIFUL BROOKLAND NEIGHBORHOOD The vibrant, historic community of Brookland supports the arts with Dance Place, galleries, a monthly Arts Walk, and includes many working artists, musicians, writers, and actors as neighborhood residents. Many residents are involved in the Greater Brookland Garden Club, Neighborhood Watch and our active neighborhood list-serve. Our Brookland "Main Street" is 12th St. NE, located two blocks away from the apartment. We are within easy walking distance to both the Red Line Brookland/CUA Metro Station and the Rhode Island Metro station, buses, the Woodridge branch of the DC Public Library, Turkey Thicket Recreation Center, the post office, banks, shops, restaurants, bars, Right Proper micro-brewery, Starbucks and other coffee shops, "Yes," which is a natural foods grocery store, and a Barnes and Noble bookstore. We are close to several Capital Bikeshare stations, Enterprise car-share stations, major hospitals and two fire stations. On Tuesdays and Sundays from May to October shop at the Brookland Farmers' Market which is located near the Brookland/Catholic U Metro Station. An additional Farmers' Market, The Home Depot, a Giant grocery store and additional retail stores and restaurants are located near the Rhode Island Avenue Metro Station. From the apartment it is about a ten minute drive north to Fort Lincoln with its Costco, Lowes and more retail stores. A ten minute drive south will get you to Capitol Hill, NOMA, Eckington, Trinidad, H Street Corridor, Bloomingdale, Shaw, Logan Circle and the National Mall. No smoking and no pets, please.
