In 2015, we did a $110,000 renovation, including complete kitchen teardown and rebuild, adding an archway between kitchen and adjoining room, and adding a triple-pane patio door that faces into our huge, very private back yard. The whole first floor, excluding the bathroom, has hardwood floors, all of which were completely refinished as part of the remodel. The remodel included high-end recycled glass countertops, a copper farmhouse sink, and all-new kitchen appliances. The back yard was completely re-landscaped a couple of years ago, and the front yard also had landscape improvements, to the tune of $20,000. We had $20,000 worth of high-end fencing installed about five years ago -- a very attractive combination of stone-look vinyl and aluminum grating. We updated our garage door a few years ago to match the feel and appearance of the house. Our property is an excellent example of the urban forest. It's got huge trees front and back, including pines, maples, cedars, oaks, and lindens. There's an original, working fireplace, with a recently updated chimney (the work was completed in 2016). New, architectural-grade shingles were put on in 2016 also. The curb appeal of our place is outstanding, and you won't find a more pleasant, secluded back yard space. It's no exaggeration to say that our house and property are the jewel of the neighborhood!
