Bloomingdale is a few blocks from the convention center, and the downtown district and National Mall (the museums and monuments) are a short bike ride, or 30 minute walk. GETTING AROUND - The home is directly on the R street bike trail (that leads to the Metro Branch Trail, Union Station, and downtown). The DC bike-share is across the street, and you can easily rent bicycles and scooters if you need. The Shaw Metro Station and NOMA metro are both within walking distance (a 12 minute walk). And bus service is available across the street. Many people also use Uber or other rideshare services which are available within minutes. NEIGHBORHOOD COMMUNITY - The neighborhood is very pedestrian friendly with local parks, gardens, and small independent businesses throughout. You can meet your neighbors while taking classes at Yoga District, or have dinner on the garden patio of the Big Bear wood oven cafe. Local restaurants and bars include the Red Hen (a citywide favorite), the Boundary Stone Pub, DC Smokehouse, Showtime (dive bar), Pub and the People (neighborhood bar/restaurant), Meats and Food (butcher and sausage house), Jam Doung Jamaican Carryout, Aroi Thai, and more. There is also a large community garden (Common Good City Farm, and Wangari Gardens) where neighbors rent plots, and Crispus Attucus park that is ideal for picnics, and "Movies Under the Stars" in the summer. The home can be furnished or unfurnished. It is ideal for a family looking for short stays w/2-3 month stays available. Or a longer-term rental for 1 year.
