Pelican Sound was developed and built by WCI Communities. The 27-hole championship golf course was completed and opened in the summer of 1998. The 6,000 sq ft. River Club located at the tip of the property over-looking the Estero River opened in September of 1999. Lunch and dinner were served at the River Club, while members anxiously awaited the opening of the Golf Club. On the millennium New Year’s Eve of 1999, the Golf Club opened with a bang. Members celebrated the new century in the brand new 18,000 sq. ft. Clubhouse. Three years later, in December of 2002, residents rang in the New Year as a member owned community. The Golf Club underwent renovations and redecoration in the summer of 2006. This past summer, the River Club was redecorated and ready to open in time for the fall season.
