This adorable miners bungalow has been really updated for comfort and will be offered as a temporary sublet for some lucky residents while I travel and continue updating other areas of this historic home. Only leases spanning Sept 1-Dec 15 or thereabouts will be considered. All applicants will need a completed Zillow application, especially to TOUR the property. Only these will be considered. Though small--like the era, the high ceilings lend a feeling of spaciousness to the classic little Eduardian layout from 1910. Watch passersby from your office workspace during this fun season in Old Colorado City. Halloween is really loved around here too :) It's fun to be here then. Pets should be mostly indoor for safety and ease.
This upper-story home is in easy walking distance to one of the most historic places in Colorado, rich in the history of the Gold Rush, Saloons, Brithels and Churches, the Wild West, Historical CO landmarks and stunning parks. You can't help but feel the history around you in this quiet, central neigborhood. The house is walking distance to farmers' markets in the summer and many attractions year-round. Use Pike Ride to e-bike the city or simply enjoy walking in the Garden of the Gods. Many guests try the Manitou Incline and drink water from natural fountains in nearby Manitou Springs. The area abounds with nature, food and entertainment.
Going west, we are close to I-25 with easy access to a vibrant downtown scene featuring the Olympic Committee and Colorado College. Enjoy a relaxing and historic getaway for a couples retreat, a work and play, or simply to enjoy the feeling of how it was to live here in the early 1900s. With a mix of modern and vintage, this place cannot be beat!
This lease is somewhat flexible but runs through Colorado Springs' busy season, making this home a real stand-out for Summer Sublet up until December 1 is preferred! I request that you don't have too many guests due to wear and tear as well as no parties unless approved. The lease can probably be extended.
This is the BEST place to get started in Colorado Springs or if you live here to try before you commit for longer. Old Colorado City has classic Victorian and Eduardian homes as well as homes from the 1950s and today. It's a bustling, but quiet, historic area to walk and enjoy the scenery. There many pubs and activities nearby as well as free festivals which can make parking harder but the rest of the times, it is good and safe on street. You have complete private access to the front and back porches but the yard is shared with a friendly dog on site already. No loud barking dogs please.
Two upstairs bedrooms allow easy access for a comfortable home office, perfect guest bath and typical large patio bedroom from the era. The bed is Full size. The original bathroom is must be passed through to get to the updated bath and has a high quality adjustable standing desk. The kitchen appliances, high R-value insualtion, new furnace, water heater, electrical, radon system plus asbestos safety checks make this classic safe and snug for everyone. Water filters abound for delicious Colorado water. The house has been professionally sealed for weather and pest intrusions.
The upgraded kitchen and bath shine with new features. Plumbing is also new so all the guts of this adorable home support the charm of the original design, the beauty of the site, and the health of the inhabitants. The garden has been designed to showcase Colorado's incredible flower and plant possibilities.
There is a full bed in a spacious master bedroom with balcony, large storage closet as well as a parlor area, dining room, deep storage in the bathroom as well, office, porch and many windows and natural light. An evaporative cooler and Portable Air Unit are provided for the rather few days of heat in the area.
Overall, this little gem has many usable spaces and is untainted in its original design, leaving small, high-ceilinged rooms to work, relax and live within the historic building. Neighbors are friendly but due to proximity, mostly keep to themselves. Gardening is popular in the area, filled with families, singles, elderly long-time residents, and some Airbnbs. It is very walkable and is generally considered a more artistic and liberal area of Colorado Springs.
This home is also close to Red Rocks Open Space and Garden of the Gods. You might not want to live in OCC forever but it would definitely be great to live here for a month or three while you find your perfect permanent home and see the most glorious nature trails in CO. The best lease length for me is probably3 months. I will be on-site continuing to remodel the other house apartments so will be in contact but prefer to keep mostly to myself in order to focus on finishing all the remodeling I had planned. It's mostly quiet stuff, like painting. My dog Anya is friendly and does not bark much. There is some barking from neighbors dogs.
