Steps from Hopkins Forest and walking distance to campus and downtown Williamstown, this lovely, well-appointed home has 4 bedrooms and 5.5 baths, an open format chef's kitchen with soaring ceilings, comfortable entertaining spaces inside and out, ample storage, and tasteful antiques and original artwork throughout. In addition to a family room, library, living room with baby grand piano, and dining room with a table that expands to seat 12 people, there's a cedar swing set, play spaces, and toys and comforts for kids if needed. Originally built in 1820, the house has been lovingly maintained, and has since been enhanced with a large addition that added a kitchen, laundry room, heated garage, family room, and a master bedroom with en-suite "Jack and Jill" bathroom. A second bedroom has a queen bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. Two additional bedrooms each have a twin bed, but we could install a convertible crib/toddler bed into one of them if desired. Outside, our historic barn and professionally-designed gardens enhance a magical 2.5 acre property on one of the most peaceful and beautiful streets in Williamstown. We have a bluestone patio with a large dining set, a furnished screen porch, and many outdoor seating areas. The view from every angle is stunning! In the fall an heirloom apple tree bears delicious fruit, maple and beech trees turn deep reds, and a trio of gingko trees turn a glorious yellow. The winter brings views of a neighboring birch grove and snow-capped mountains. In the spring, the magnolia outside the arched kitchen window is covered with white flowers and the peonies in front of the house burst into bloom. Our home is full of unique character, and we hope to find tenants who will put it to good use and enjoy it in our absence but who will also treat it with love and care. We welcome a family with children and can provide all sorts of gear and toys, or we can easily store kid items for renters who don't need them. We will give access to the whole house apart from a few closets and one room that we'll use for storing belongings that we want to get out of the way. Unfortunately, due to our allergies, we cannot allow pets or smoking in the house. Though we'll be away for the academic year, we'll be readily available by text and email to address any tenant needs. We also have many trusted local helpers (carpenter, electrician, snow and trash removal, landscapers, a cleaner, etc.) who can continue to look after things in our absence, and will take care of landscaping, snow removal, and trash removal.
