Neighborhood Description AVON, OH: This is a nice suburb on the west side of Cleveland. 25-30 minute drive to Downtown, 35-40 minute drive to the Cleveland Clinic. Avon is pretty quiet. I grew up one suburb away, and not too long ago, this was where people in the area came to buy fresh produce or take horseback riding lessons. But they started to build up a few years back, so now you have new subdivisions sprinkled in there with the farms and nurseries. Grocery stores, Home Depot, Lowes (coming soon), Target and Walmart are convenient, and nicely hidden away, too. It's very convenient to I-90. Shopping malls are close, but not too close, 2 exits away on I-90. I haven't dealt with the public schools yet, since my kids are too young, but I hear they are good. We used a nursery school/day care about 3 minutes from the house. My particular neighborhood was cut out of farmland, so the roads in look pretty rural (Moon and French Creek). This keeps kids on bikes within the subdivision, since those roads lack sidewalks, for the most part. The subdivision is shaped like a horseshoe, so kids can explore the whole place and not get lost.
