    Showing this weekend! Friday starting 4pm and any time Saturday or Sunday. We're proud to offer our studio apartment in Park View (Columbia Heights) for move-in in early July. We're finishing up the renovation of the kitchen right now, so there will be granite countertops in place of the existing ones. When you enter the apartment through the front yard with its native plants and fruit tree, you'll find a large living and sleeping area with exposed brick walls, built-in bookshelves, and a dramatic dark wood aesthetic, while during the day the apartment still gets plenty of sunlight. Toward the rear of the apartment are the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room (with your own washer and dryer) and storage area. In the back yard, there's a brick patio surrounded by landscaped garden beds that's shared with the upper unit of the house. It's a lovely spot for some sunbathing or an outdoor dinner party. This home is powered by the sun! Solar panels on the roof cover the majority of electrical use. The home is a 7-minute walk from the Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metro and 4-minute walk from the high-frequency express buses of Georgia Avenue. We are also close to Safeway, Yes Organic Market, Doubles Coffee, Sonnys Pizza, Midlands Beer Garden, Hook Hall, Call Your Mother, and the other great spots of Georgia Avenue. There also are bike lanes at either end of the block. Street parking is extremely easy given how few people in the neighborhood drive to work. We've worked hard to renovate this home we lived in for a decade and now live right down the block, so we're looking for someone who will love Casa Newton as much as we do! There is a flat fee of $15.39 per month for the solar panels, but this more than pays for itself in reduced electric bills. Electricity, gas, and water are shared with the otherwise separate upstairs unit, which overall results in lower per-person costs given that a significant portion of utility bills are flat fees, and you'd be welcome to share Internet with the upstairs as well. The lovely folks upstairs are quiet and very considerate.
