    Freshly renovated 3-bedroom home in Park View (Columbia Heights) with garage: Casa Newton is the best of both worlds: the luxury of a new kitchen and bathroom paired with the original architectural details of this hundred-year-old house. When you enter the home through the front yard and its native plants and fruit tree, via the wide front porch, you find yourself in the entry hall with its tall ceilings. To your left are the living and dining rooms joined by a huge sliding pocket door. In the rear, we find the kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, pantry, and the original swinging mirrored butler's door. In the back yard, there's a brick patio among landscaped garden beds as well as a large garage (parking for a car and still plenty of room left over for storage). Upstairs are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom in a dramatic dark wood color scheme, as well as the in-unit laundry. This home is powered by the sun! Solar panels on the roof cover the majority of electrical use. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan. Central air and heat and a smart thermostat round out the tech features of the home. The home is a 7-minute walk from the Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metro and 4-minute walk from the buses of Georgia Avenue. We are also close to Safeway, Yes Organic Market, Doubles Coffee, Sonnys Pizza, Midlands Beer Garden, Hook Hall, Call Your Mother, Snappy's Small Bar, and other great spots on Georgia Avenue, with a "Walker's Paradise" Walk Score of 92. There also are bike lanes at either end of the block. We have worked hard to renovate this home we lived in starting in 2012 and now live right down the block ourselves, so we're looking for someone who will love Casa Newton as much as we do! There is a flat fee of $46.16 per month we must pay to the solar installer for the solar panel system that we would ask you to assume, but it is far cheaper (and better for the environment) than paying Pepco for coal power. Electricity, gas, and water are shared with the otherwise separate basement apartment, which overall results in lower per-person costs given that a significant portion of utility bills are flat fees, and you'd be welcome to share Internet bills with the basement apartment as well. The resident of the basement apartment has been our tenant for about 5 years and is very quiet and nice. No smoking allowed inside the house.
