Ideally located, heavily wooded private lot in the highly sought after Rollingwood area, within 3 blocks of Rollingwood Park and easy walking or bicycling distance to Zilker Park. Architectural schematics are available for a creative contemporary home by Dylan Rupar, as he describes below. Ravine House: The Ravine House is a high-end 5,000 SF residence located on a densely wooded lot in the heart of Austin’s, West Lake Hills neighborhood. The home was designed to blend poetically into its natural context, minimally impacting trees while also bridging a 15’ easement over a creek bed that runs north to south through the middle of the site. Composed as two gabled volumes, these simple structures, clad in charred cedar siding with galvanized steel roofs, echo a Texas vernacular that is prevalent throughout the region. Within the main structure the living, dining, and kitchen programs share an open plan on the 1st level that corresponds with the bridging portion of the home. Within this primary space occupants of the house are afforded expansive views into the surrounding woods as they float above the creek bed below. Anchoring this program are a series of service ‘cores’ containing the pantry, bathrooms, stairs, storage & mechanical spaces. Circulation occurs as an interior ‘loop’ around the perimeter of the home. This allows occupants to be continually oriented and connected to the surrounding landscape as they move through the structure. The second level is comprised of 2 guest bedrooms & bathroom as well as a larger master suite. The lower level is designed to be finished with 1 to 2 extra guest rooms as well as a large multipurpose room or gym space as the owner sees best fit. Ultimately, the home was designed as a natural refuge for daily living in the heart of Austin, Texas. Dylan Contact us to discuss the possibilities for the home site and Ravine House.
