The Housemates: The Green Elephant is a rad rowhouse of mixed queer 20-somethings and we are looking for a couple of dope people to join us in our lovely North Petworth home. Occupations of folks in the house span from non-profit work, organizing, marketing and sales, and the arts/puppeteering. We enjoy cooking, watching Netflix, playing music and video games, hanging out and doing our own things. We appreciate open communication and have a chore wheel to keep the house tidy. There's an accepting vibe in the house; we believe that #BlackLivesMatter and are LGBTQIA2S friendly. We have one super sweet cat; however, no additional pets are allowed. The House: The house has 7 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. We share a big dining area, a lounge, and the kitchen which has two fridges, a gas range and a dishwasher. There is hardwood flooring throughout the first and second floors. Laundry is shared in the basement. There is no smoking inside but we are 420 friendly. Outside, there's a huge front yard and a back patio area with a gas grill, veggie garden, and a picnic table where housemates and friends hang. The house is located just an 11-minute walk from Fort Totten metro station, which has red, yellow and green lines. It's also less than a minute from the 64 bus stop, which takes you down to awesome places like The Coupe, Wonderland Ballroom, U St, and Chinatown. There is ample street parking, and with a D.C. registration you can get you a 4D zone sticker if you have a car. The Room: The bedroom is on the basement level, but it has 3 windows with good light. It is also the largest room in the house -- plenty of room for an office and/or a seating area. The roommate in this room shares a bathroom with the other housemate on the basement level and one on the main level. Finally, the room is $800/mo + utilities, which run about $60-$80 a month.
