Built in 1953, the Squire House embodies his experimental structural steel system and palette of industrial materials that he later used for his famed Case Study houses #21, 1958, and #22, 1959, turning various versions of steel, concrete, and glass into glamour. Koenig's careful consideration of the site brings nature and architecture together with a light, graceful touch that distinguishes his work. Glass walls comprise the entire rear elevation, opening the entire house to a private world of rugged canyons up close, pines, and hiking trails.
