    What's special

Reading nookSamsung smart tvTons of natural light
As the owner, I have lived there myself since 2016. My favorite part of the unit is how bright it is. It is filled with windows and tons of natural light. It is very spacious (nearly 1,000sq ft) of space with an open layout. It is quiet with no neighbors above (top floor), and no neighbors on either side (stairwell on one side and the building wall on the other). The kitchen is everything a fan of cooking could need. The living room is super comfortable with a Samsung smart TV and a transforming sofa that lounges and can convert into a comfy work space with tables and chargers and lighting built in. The desk is where I spent most of my time, with great natural light and a fully ergonomic work station (two external monitors, a docking station and ergonomic keyboard. The dining area is sweet and the reading nook is where I aspire to spend more time. The unit has a ton of storage space, with full and deep closets in both bedrooms, two closets in the entryway for coats and shoes, etc. and both a linen closet across from the bathroom, stocked with sheets, towels, and other bath needs (e.g., humidifier, hair dryer, first aid kit, cleaning supplies, laundry supplies), and a great cabinet space in the kitchen. The bedrooms each have a queen-sized bed and thick blinds and curtains. The primary bedroom has tons of space where you could even add another small work area, and the secondary bedroom has a built-in bookshelf. The Garfield residents are very respectful and quiet, and also really nice. They do socializing activities, and you can often find them hangingin out on the rooftop deck, which is my favorite amenity. The gym gets the job done and has enough variety to meet lots of workout needs, and I totally underutilized the community room, but could be great to get cable shows or change your scenery when working from home. The building has wifi throughout, including the rooftop. The front desk staff are very nice, and there's a property manager on site every day. The building is safe and has bike storage in the garage (I left my bike in the unit so that renters would know which it is, but you can store it in the garage. The neighborhood is also fantstic. It has Chevy Chase Recreation Center in walking distance for a local park, as well as the mail business strip that starts a block away with Starbucks. It has a movie theater, CVS, UPS, banks, multiple grocery stores in walking distance (Trader Joe's, Safeway, Magruder's, Whole Foods, Rodman's), restaurants, cafes, cleaners, and more. The building is just over a mile from the nearest Rock Creek Park entrance and it is near two main arteries of access into (and out of) the city - Connecticut Ave and Military Rd. The D70 bus that goes down Connecticut Ave picks up right at the corner of the building. Many people will take the bus to Van Ness and hop on metro, which is the red line. I would just walk to Friendship Heights (about 0.8mi through a beautiful neighborhood). I can share recommendations for places to go and places to eat. The Garfield Building has building rules to abide by. This is a no-smoking building with a minimum lease term of 6 months. It has reasonable quiet hours, and some amenities will have close times that are also reasonable, but the laundry and concierge are 24/7. The condo association is made up of owners and renters and is very active in the building. All residents are invited to the montly condo association meetings. Updates/changes to the rules will be communicated by the landlord. Violation of agreed-upon rules may eventually have fines associated that the tenant will be liable for if it is tied to them. The Garfield does allow fish and birds as pets but because of the older age of the building and air circulation, they do not allow pets due to concerns around allergens. However, service animals are allowed and emotional support animals with a doctor/therapist note are reviewed by the board and allowed with proper documentation.
