Custom built Mexican style hacienda. Colors - terra cotta facade draws the natural earth hues red/orange into the home and the accent deep matte blue is traditionally used in Mexican homes to "ward off evil spirits". The front door is made from ajenjo (wormwood) hand carved in Patzcuaro , Michoacan. Entering the home notice the cylindrical recess in the ceiling with a showcase lead glass window depicting the ojo de buey (oxeye); legend says "brings good fortune into the home". Throughout: arcos (arches) encasing the windows and doors, nichos (niches) to showcase artwork and statues, talavera tiles made from natural clays and dyes and made by less than 10 potters in Puebla, Mexico. Each bathroom has a theme that is carried out in the tile colors and placement with matching sinks and switch plates. The kitchen backsplash was carefully chosen to complement the colors of the house. Miniature matching tiles were placed above the arches to complement the backsplash. Real gem!
