The country NW of Schroeder and NE of Finland represents one of those big blank spots on the map. Spring, the wind filters down, comingling with the boiling sap. Summer is a shady canopy susurrating dreamily above the hammock. The cabin slab is insulated and currently the heat comes from sweat and muscle: process the firewood right form the property, chuck it into the dutiful woodstove! Cabin is 20x24 with plenty of light coming in, wood paneling, cute little kitchen roughed in, and oh so quiet! Owners can get you started by including a bunch of furnishings. This is a place for some shut-eye before opening day, hunkering in after a snowmobile journey to the Trestle Inn (State Trail is .6 miles away), cook up a mess of cakes to be slathered in your hand-crafted syrup and the day’s haul of blueberries, play cards, tell tales, laugh until the sides split and the grin hurts! Come with the whole gang and lay into some projects or with just that special someone: close-by, together in the glow of the woodstove. The 2021 build had all the right moves: LP smart siding on the front, steel siding on the rest, great big overhung porch area for chillaxing, wired and set up for plugging in a generator. The vision is one of simplicity, getting back to basics. A place to disappear, unwind, relax, recall how it can be. If you like, modernize as you see fit, easy enough to bring in power, get a heater in place, etc. And, keep mindful of the rich web of life the cabin dwells in. Spring ephemerals pop out including a carpet of bloodroot. Moose and bears have been “seen” on the wildlife cameras. Salamanders and frogs somehow freeze then thaw in the forest litter – miraculous! On close inspection, it’s rather mind-blowing the ways of these boreal maple woods! Come see, buy, make the dream reality!
