The History: This house was built between the years 1888 and 1890 by Hiram Hunter who purchased the lot in 1888. HE built this “Queen Anne Ornate” House he used only the finest materials available. The extras Mr. Hunter spent on are remarkably well preserved throughout the four-bedroom house. It is a showcase for fine woods and workmanship. Elaborate oak spindle work surrounding the entry, then continues up a large staircase and around the second-floor hallway. On the first floor, the two fireplaces retain extraordinary wood mantels, along with original mirrors, title, and summer fronts. Oak pocket doors, double-height interior shutters, and paneling are in exceptional condition. When one enters the front hall through the heavy double doors, to admire the ornate carved oak newel post and staircase. Turned spindles are fitted to form a pattern, instead of the usual vertical spindles. Just inside the front door is a curtain-like fretwork of delicate spindles extending down from the ceiling. The interior doors are designed with three vertical panels above the below a dividing horizontal panel. The casing has corner blocks, which are repeated about halfway to the floor. Original hardwood floors. Bronze hardware is used throughout the house. Roof was replaced in 2021. Electrical service was upgrade in 2023, and moved underground. Brand new electrical panel has been installed. The basement and first floor electrical has been upgraded. One second floor bathroom has had the plumbing upgraded.
