This 1950-home was built lovingly by our neighbor's father as the string of four homes on the 5th Ave. NE bluff. This home is one of two that have a 180 degree view of the Olympic Mountain Range due to the house being at the crest of Maple Leaf Hill at the 380ft. elevation "peak" of North Seattle. I bought the house in 1997 when it had a super clean, but unfinished basement. In 2004, after five years of architectural planning and saving money to do the job, I renovated the basement floor of the house to essentially DOUBLE the living space in the home since the basement mirrors the top floor footage. The basement is a daylight basement with Southern, Western and Northern windows that allow light into the higher-than-normal finished basement ceiling. The upstairs has always been immaculate in that it has always been my living space and the deck I built in 1999 and renovated three times over the past 20 years really show loving care to maximize the view of a home with an amazing view. The hardwood floors and the retro-style renovated full bathroom on the main floor is a rare find in the Seattle area. You can't "fake" genuine Mad Men era stylin'! (aka: new stuff to look like and match the preserved vintage stuff that looks awesome!). Being at the end of a rare Seattle neighborhood cul-de-sac where every neighbor of the 12 along the street know each other by first names is a key factor to the livability of this home. I love this rare Maple Leaf keeper and plan on living here for a long time!
