But the experience is essentially that of having your own place, but with friendly neighbors that you run into sometimes. This space is quite small but light and bright with tall ceilings, two big windows, a good sized closet and its own cooking facilities. Works well for a single or double bed, but a queen would be a little crowded. Everyone pitches in to keep the bathroom very clean and the system works well for sharing between four. All four current residents have been in place for between 2 1/2 to 5+ years, which speaks to the comfortable nature of the arrangement. Terrific location- about one and a half blocks from the plaza, close to restaurants, supermarkets, public transportation, and everything downtown Arcata has to offer. Cal Poly campus is about 5 or 6 blocks away, and while there is no onsite laundry, there is a laundromat one block away from the house. No onsite parking but easy street parking within a block or so once you exit the downtown parking zone - overnight parking is never an issue right by the house, but daytime parking is 2-4 hours and can get busy during farmer's market etc. Rent is $745/month and includes water, sewer, garbage and recycling, and hot water heater. Tenant pays own PG&E (should be very low unless you run a space heater a lot) and own internet (may be option to share). Security deposit is $950. No pets and no smoking.
