What the owner loves about this home
There is so much to love about this home. More than anything, we love the character, warmth, and location. It has the kind of charm that is hard to recreate in a newer home—from the beautiful original hardwood floors and detailed woodwork to the built-ins, fireplace, stained glass, and clawfoot tub. The space & room for everyone to spread out while the house still feels warm and welcoming. The completely finished attic with recessed lighting is such a versatile bonus space—it can be a home office, workout room, playroom, hobby area, or additional family space. Laundry and bedrooms are on the 2nd floor. Two car garage with extra parking on a dead-end alleyway right off of S. Main Street. XXL fenced in yard which is rare for in-town living. The location has also been one of my favorite things about living here. We’re close to the Fairfield Public Library, can walk to the downtown Square, and are close to Fairfield’s walking trails. The newer sidewalk also provides a wonderful walking route toward the hospital. It’s so nice to be able to leave the house and actually walk to so many places around town. Outside, we love our front porch and porch swing, the mature trees and landscaping, and having a backyard with plenty of room for kids to play. The patio gives us another great space for relaxing and entertaining. I also love how the updates have been incorporated without taking away the home’s history. The updated kitchen provides the conveniences we want today while the hardwood floors, beautiful trim, large windows, and architectural details preserve everything that makes an older home special. Most of all, this house has personality. It isn’t cookie-cutter. It has history, beautiful spaces, room to grow, and a location.
