In 1870, Seth Ward hired Asa Beebe Cross to design a Greek Revival, all brick home w/ 11 foot ceilings, full-length windows & 2 elegant staircases. He carefully wove in William Bent's previous Santa Fe Trail outpost into an estate for the Ward Family, who later gave the city Ward Parkway, Loose Park & Sunset Hill. The Bent-Ward House today combines many original & new details. The hearth fireplace & pine floors flavor the remodeled kitchen w/ its 2 pantries & eat-in counter space on a large stone island.
