Here is a large older home in one of the best family neighborhoods in Perry, just two blocks from the McCreary Rec Center, five blocks to Dallas County Hospital and Surgery Center, and walking distance to downtown Perry with all its activities (art shows, excellent foods, farmer's market, festivals and parades plus the Carnegie Library Museum, historic Hotel Patee and more!) This house has sturdy bones that will withstand time. Updated kitchen, baths, flooring, appliances and ceiling fans provide all modern comforts of home while retaining the old-fashioned charm and security. New quartz-granite countertops, sink, new Amana dishwasher and fixtures highlight this Mediterranean-style kitchen, opening to a dining room and spacious living room with adjoining room used as an office if not needed as your fourth bedroom. A good sized bedroom has adjacent bath, also convenient to kitchen and living room. The large kitchen has plenty of room for eating in with dinette and chairs. Upstairs are two carpeted bedrooms and a large updated bath area with extra-large soaker tub and a shower. There is lots of room for school desks or your hobby area. Thirteen new Pella windows open in for ease of cleaning and plenty of light. The new roof shingles and decking were put on in 2025 with warranty transferring. The basement is full-size, sturdy, dry and clean with a functioning primitive bathroom. Make it into an extra bedroom or man cave or use the shelves for your canning or storage needs. Mature trees keep summer heat down on this lovely corner lot, and you will enjoy those summer evenings on your glass 3-season porch or backyard leading to the garage - perfect for hanging out or grilling with friends. Don't miss this chance at Americana with a pinch of flair! (Check out the price per square feet - better than almost anybody else's.) House is being sold by owner and will pay $4000 toward commission.
What the owner loves about this home
This house feels spacious and happy, like a smiling Spanish abuela. The kitchen is broad and warm. Speaking of warm, the gas boiler heat is both quiet and not drying, so winter is very comfortable. Summers are cool because of the building style and the trees, and we only needed air conditioning for a few weeks every summer. The pool and lots of activities for kids, seniors and everyone else are just down the street at McCreary or the Perry Public Library. Low crime, easy driving and convenience to Des Moines via four-lane Hwy. 141 makes WalMart very local. It is just a great place to live but it is too big a house for us now.
