Custom-built Swiss alpine chalet (1990) on 20 private acres with 1,000 feet of Carrabassett River frontage. Vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows fill the open living, dining, and kitchen area with natural light, anchored by an EPA-certified wood stove. Upstairs, the primary suite offers a large walk-in closet and a recently renovated bath with emerald green tile, cedar accents, and a deep soaking tub/shower combo. A loft overlooks the main living space and opens to a walkout deck.
4 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2,100 finished sq ft, plus a 1,000 sq ft unfinished basement. Three bedrooms sit in their own wing with a private entrance, a foyer/living area, and a full bath. The wing connects to the main house by a hallway and shares its electric and heat, making it a flexible layout for guests, extended family, multi-generational living, or a roommate setup. The home operated as an inn under previous ownership. It is not currently permitted for commercial use, and buyers should verify permitted uses with the town.
A wraparound deck on two sides looks toward the water. The property is heated by wood stove and oil, with well water and septic. Recent updates: new roof on the wing (2026) and new refrigerator and dishwasher (Nov 2025). Refrigerator, glass-top range, and dishwasher are included. All but one acre is wooded, and the river is far enough back that the home is not in a flood zone. A 1/10-mile driveway ends in a large turnaround with room for multiple vehicles, snowmobiles, and ATVs. A garage and shed provide basic storage. Spectrum internet and Starlink are available, with 5G cell service at the house. Located on a main highway with easy access to town. Move-in ready.

What the owner loves about this home
What drew us to this house was the light, and it’s what we’ll miss most. The living room has floor-to-ceiling windows and soaring vaulted ceilings, with views into the woods that are especially beautiful in fall and winter. Because the living, dining, and kitchen areas are one big room, it has been a wonderful place to gather with people.
Outside, you get privacy without giving up convenience. The long driveway keeps road noise away, the woods surround you, and the river is right there. It feels remote, but it’s not tucked away in the mountains. A small grocery store and a few restaurants are 5 to 10 minutes away. Hiking, water access, a hospital, and a larger grocery store are about 30 minutes out, and so is Sugarloaf, one of Maine’s best ski resorts.
The separate three-bedroom wing gives a lot of flexibility for hosting, extended family, or roommates. This is a great fit for remote workers, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who wants more space, both in the house and on the land.
