The Weathersby-Anthony House (c.1840): A Turnkey Greek Revival Masterpiece Own a living work of art. Proudly featured on the Martin County Historic Homes Tour for the USA 250th Independence Celebration, the historic Weathersby-Anthony House is an exquisite 2,500-square-foot Greek Revival estate seamlessly blending antebellum grandeur with museum-quality modern luxury. Located on a premier lot at 500 N. Front Street, this home is offered completely furnished and turnkey—allowing you to step directly into a curated historic lifestyle with absolutely no moving hassle or extra furniture expenses.A classic, sweeping Southern wrap-around porch introduces the home, framed by mature landscaping and a sprawling yard. Inside, gleaming refinished original pine floors, grand light fixtures, and soaring ceilings flow through the light-filled spaces. Five magnificent original fireplaces and hand-carved historic mantels serve as stunning focal points throughout the home. The fully renovated chef's kitchen perfectly anchors modern utility with artistic design, showcasing hand-laid Italian marble tile countertops, a shimmering mother-of-pearl backsplash, a built-in pot filler, and a deep stainless steel sink with premium chrome fixtures. Brand-new appliances include a refrigerator, microwave, range, range hood, and dishwasher, all backed by an efficient on-demand gas water heater. The highly coveted first-floor main suite offers a private oasis. Its ensuite bathroom is a true design marvel, featuring an artistic mosaic rendering of the "Sun, Moon, and Tides" crafted from white Carrera Italian marble, brown Spanish Emperador tile, and radiant gold tile accents. The theme is grounded by a point-on-center alternating brown and white tile floor, gold-toned hardware, and a unique vanity beautifully repurposed from a Victorian buffet.Upstairs, two massive bedrooms—each flooded with natural light from four grand windows—share a second bathroom that doubles as a mosaic masterpiece. The entire enclosure of the 1940s cast-iron tub is wrapped in an undulating wave pattern of 1-inch iridescent pool tiles, mother-of-pearl, and gold accents, flanked by Grecian white marble. A vintage washstand vanity features a marble top and a vessel sink, set against classic white penny tile flooring. A flexible fourth room easily serves as a dedicated home office, nursery, or additional bedroom.Sleep soundly knowing every major structural system is brand new:All-New Mechanicals: Brand-new plumbing, new electrical wiring, and a newly replaced rear deck.Roof & Paint: A freshly repainted exterior and a roof recently refinished with premium, protective elastomeric coating.HVAC & Gas: Powered by natural gas (range, dryer, water heater, and furnaces), the home features 3 separate brand-new HVAC units—two gas units downstairs and one electric unit upstairs—for zoned climate control.Outside, a charming historic storage shed offers endless workshop or studio potential. Offered at $339,000, the seller is highly motivated and will accept an offer of $299,000 if no broker commissions are involved. Don't miss this unprecedented opportunity to own a fully restored, fully furnished piece of American history. Note: Seller is a licensed real estate agent in the state of Arizona.
What the owner loves about this home
The artistic tile work in the bathrooms and kitchen is fantastic. It is my specialty as an artist. Using brown and white marble, I have constructed a likeness of the sun, moon and tides in the main bathroom, and undulating waves out of iridescent pool tiles in the upper bathroom. The kitchen features Italian marble countertops hand cut and laid in a diamond pattern with mother of pearl tiles in the backsplash. The home is in a small town with low crime yet 45 minutes to a large hospital and local airport, or an hour + to the Raleigh Durham airport and Duke Medical complex.
