What I love most is that you get the best of both worlds — a wonderful family neighborhood, but total privacy. Our home is at the end of a cul-de-sac with nature directly behind us. When you sit on the back patio or in the screened-in porch, you feel like you're in your own private nature preserve. You forget you're in a neighborhood at all, yet you're surrounded by wonderful families and children. It truly feels like your own sanctuary. Inside, the three levels give everyone space. The upstairs loft is perfect for teenagers or younger children — private, yet still connected to the home. The main level was made for entertaining. The kitchen is spectacular, with a huge granite island that comfortably seats 8, and if you pull chairs around the outside, you can seat 14 to 16 and still have plenty of room to cook and work. It flows right into the adjacent sunroom, so the party can spill over, and there's a table behind the island that seats 8 overlooking the family room, so everyone feels included. The formal dining room is right there too — I've hosted Thanksgiving for 28 to 30 people comfortably between the spaces. The finished lower level is a favorite for all the teenagers. With three egress windows it still feels bright and open, not like a basement. It has a high-top table area for cards, room for ping-pong and foosball, and with 10 foot ceilings, there's even room for basketball. It's the ultimate hangout where they can watch movies and have their own space. It's a home where you can host a crowd, but still find peace in your own backyard nature preserve.
