    What's special

This incredible Colonial Plantation style solid brick home is now available for immediate ownership. It definitely needs plenty of cosmetic work, so if you're not looking for a fixer upper then this isn't for you. But it's perfectly liveable as is, so live in while renovating, or leave it as is. Set in beautiful mature yard and gardens of 3.0 acres and a very nice distance away from State maintained Highway 3 down it's own long driveway, this home is perfect for any growing family. With 5 large bedrooms, 2 full and 1 half bathrooms, huge open plan kitchen and dining room opening out into the main living space, the potential of this solid impressive mansion is endless. Built in 1833 it has definitely stood up to the test of time, with it's 3 brick thick walls and original beautiful wood sash windows and grand front porch with pillars. It's large and opulent dark wood staircase leads up to a bright and airy upstairs landing with door out onto the porch balcony. Two huge bedrooms in the front of the house where sun floods in making them very pretty during the day. Toward the back of the upstairs is a medium sized bedroom with adjoining full bath with claw foot tub and wonderful views across the fields. Then to the right the 4th upstairs bedroom with 3 huge windows and cavernous space and tons of storage! The secondary staircase leads down from this room into the main living area and kitchen. Downstairs you have either the 5th (master) bedroom with adjoining full bathroom with shower and double sink, or second living room, also with tons of storage closet space. Then the "games room" is the second largest downstairs room, but still considerably large, which connects to the downstairs hall and kitchen/ dining room. The kitchen is older but has a rustic and country home feel, with large cupboards and room for all modern appliances. The very nicely sized double garage will easily fit 2 vehicles and still have space for tools and machinery. Outside the mature lawns and gardens are full of large trees, flowers and shrubs that bloom all year round. Also a small water feature and pond sit in the back yard, near the original WORKING hand water pump and shaded patio area. There is a 16x15 outbuilding or summer kitchen as it is known, which has huge potential and it's own full sized basement! I'm 6ft 2 and I can fully stand up in the basement area. There is also an enormous.. enormous barn 80x100 ft I think, with 3 entry points and a small fenced in paddock behind the rear door. Approximately 3 acres in total. This house definitely needs a lot of cosmetic work, paint, carpets, kitchen and bathroom updates and general maintenance on most things. So if you're not looking for a fixer upper then then this is definitely not the house for you. But it's totally liveable as is, and can be easily renovated while living in the residence I would think. It has a recent new roof, good siding, some new electrics, some new plumbing and newer heating system which is a hot water radiator system that runs on propane, which keeps the house very warm in the winter. No a/c but some ceiling fans are there. The solid brick structure keeps it cool even on the hottest of days. The history of this property is incredible, it was once used as a Speakeasy or illegal drinking establishment during prohibition and rumored to be a place where a gentleman could pay for a lady's company... If you know what I mean?! It is also alleged that John Dillinger stayed here during his time, but I've been unable to substantiate this. However the current owners have found whisky jugs and bottles hidden under the floors! The current owners have found a new, smaller property closer to their workplaces and are highly motivated to sell asap. Call Nathan at: 317-364-3435 for further info or to arrange a viewing. Viewings are STRICTLY BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, do not go on the property without prior approval, as the current owners have some very good guard dogs!

This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Zillow. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.
